GARDEN OF BAGHS!

We will start out with prints from Heart of India-Madhya Pradesh, more so because our heart belongs to this place. If the sarees in movie Swades had an everlasting impression on you,you are just at the right place.

Bagh prints, which get their name from a village called 'BAGH' located in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh, are one of the most beautiful traditional textile prints of Madhya Pradesh. The designs are made from vegetable dyes which are biodegradable & eco-friendly and superior to chemical dyes in all respects. And if this wasn't enough, they improve in shine and texture with every wash!
The design repertoire of Bagh prints covers geometrical and floral compositions. From beautiful sarees, suits and kurtis to traditional bedsheets, bagh lends an ethereal effect to all the textiles. The fabric used originally was cotton, but now saw tassar, crepe, and silk are being used with excellent results. But my votes go out to Bagh for the most basic yet important reason-'comfort'. The fabric is just so comfortable that you can sleep in it.Be it winters or summers, wearing Bagh is a soothing experience. I am putting in some pictures from my mother's closet to give you an idea about the designs, so just scroll and let me know how did you like the prints?
